The Next Level

Posted by:

I hear all the time, people and coaches talk about “taking it to the next level.” This is a special lingo at the beginning of the year especially! People are excited about it!
It reminded me of the time when I coached skating, and I got a 5-year old new student, a little boy. I asked him what did he want to learn and he proudly told me that he wanted to go to the Olympics. “That’s a fantastic goal!” I said, “What is Olympics?”
Boy: “I don’t know.”
I: “Why do you want to go there?”
Boy: “My mom said it’s good!”
I find that we throw words like “Going to the next level” in the same manner as the little boy was talking Olympics. In skating when we were talking levels, it meant learning a new jump, or qualifying to Nationals, or reaching a particular score at a competition. It was clear, measurable and timed. When this “Next Level” is defined in specific actions it is attainable. So, what is your “Next Level” this year?
Mine: releasing new product line and online course, and getting a major speaking engagement (in the outer life), (in the inner life) become more consistent with my morning rituals than last year, and take bolder action in moving forward so I can trust myself more. Now these ‘more’ and ‘bolder’ are measurable for me because I track every single one of my days and very aware of my performance. Would love to hear about your Next Level!

On this Christmas Eve

Christmas Eve, again. It holds so many meanings for each of us. A season of giving, loving, celebrating and reflecting. For some of us, it is an evening of Joy for others regrets and sadness. I feel as if I’ve been avoiding writing this letter to you. After all, my cup has been full in the past couple of months, and I seriously didn’t have the time or mental power to think beyond the immediacy of what my plate was holding in front of me. I am grateful for this day, as I chose to stop, reflect and finally write this letter. Honestly, I have not been practicing the art of writing for almost two months. I feel clunky and cumbersome. Words come with difficulty. I could easily send out a card or few words of “Blessings for Holiday Season” and ‘Thinking of you.” However, I wanted this to be meaningful and transformational for you, the reader, and for me, the writer. It is my intention to use every moment in service to learning and growing, and writing is one of those moments. As I am writing this in my office, looking out of the window, it’s hailing! Is it a sign? Perhaps. I want my words to land on you today like hail lands on the earth. It falls hard, with an impact, and then melts as it hits the ground, penetrating the surface with its life-bearing power. What words could I choose to bring this bang?
A quote, pinned to my refrigerator comes to mind. When I first heard it, it hit me like lightning. The simplicity and truth, reflection and call to action. Today I want to gift you with these words, as well as to endow you with the responsibility to share them with others if you feel so called.

“People live the same year 75 times and call it life.”

I hope you shook your head, exhaled and said, “I am so grateful it’s not me! I kick ass every day and live my life with purpose and mission, joy and service. I wake up every morning with enthusiasm and question “what’s next?” and make bold strokes in the direction of my dreams.”
However, if reading this left you feeling regretful, then perhaps, this letter is your call to action, the whisper of your heart, the longing of your soul. I know the pain of starting over. It’s hard and clunky. But you are not alone. In the darkest moments of our lives when nothing seems to work, and no one seems to care, remember that! Receiving this letter today is the proof of that! As the Christmas morning sun will rise upon you, you will remember Today is the first day of the new, exciting, fulfilling, meaningful, inspiring, bold, creative, courageous, awakened, authentic, compassionate, disciplined, energized, abundant, enthusiastic, healthy, caring, loving life. Because you choose that for yourself! And when you make this choice, please share it with me, and that will be your gift to me.

Merry Christmas!

Translated from Russian by Faye Kitariev, M.A.

Have you ever wondered why you feel so drained after spending time with some people? How certain situations energize you and others deflate you? How you may feel manipulated, provoked, taken advantage of? Ever heard of Energy Vampires?
As a high performer and High Performance Coach, the subject of energy is probably one of the most important ones to me. As you can imagine, without energy, there is no performance!
If you are looking to create a life full of meaning, joy, and fulfillment, you can’t ignore what you will read here. I found this subject and article so important that I took a few weeks to translate it. Enjoy!

Coach Faye Kitariev, M.A.

We always think that “vampires” are people different from us. They may be friends, relatives, or colleagues. However, WE are certainly not “vampires,” because we are good and kind. But they are the ones who want to suck our energy.

Let’s look at the fundamentals of energetics and it’s laws. Otherwise, I am afraid that we’ll slide into thinking of our superiority. This thinking can lead to more problems and our degradation.

So, who are the energy vampires?

They are people with low personal energy, which is caused by the presence of destructive internal programs or wounds. In a sense, these programs don’t allow them to accumulate their power. “Vampires” feed on a particular type of energy, mostly negative. They trigger people to become overly emotional, and that is exactly what vampires want. Once they “suck up” this energy, they feel strong and satisfied.

So, here is the first conjecture unknown to most people. One can only “suck” energy from another “vampire.” When a person lives a self-sufficient life, doesn’t depend on anyone emotionally and keeps his inner core intact, then he is virtually immune to “vampire’s” efforts. If someone does “drink” your energy, that means you too periodically “drink” someone else’s.

How is it possible to take someone’s energy?

One of the most common ways for a “vampire” “to get his “food” is to provoke someone to feel negative emotions. This can be easily accomplished by talking about some crisis, difficult situation in the country, or tell your girlfriend that she gained weight and looks bad, or perhaps share the “truth” about the infidelity of her boyfriend, etc….It’s not that difficult to overload a person with negativity, make him feel sad, overwhelmed, or frustrated. This is the first tier of vampirism, an appetizer of sorts.

To reach the second tier requires bringing a man to a state of very strong emotions, such as fear, panic, anxiety, tears, anger, rage, nervous breakdown, psychosis, and wild aggression. Once achieved, the provocateur will tell his victim in a quiet voice, “You are overreacting, it’s no big deal?” One can say that this level is akin a decent “entree with a side dish.”

There are “vampires” who feed on enormous amounts of energy released during controversy or provocation. These “vampires” love driving a wedge between loved ones: employing intrigue, sly hints and provoking scandals. Some women love breaking up families. This mostly happens unconsciously. As soon as she wins a man from his relationship and creates scandals, pain, and suffering, she loses interest in this man by realizing that “he is not for me.” She can then go on for some time living off this negative energy until she crashes. Then she starts a new cycle with another victim.

“Vampirism” is like a “sport.” A woman or a man is demanding or fighting for attention and strong emotions from the opposite sex, then as soon as she gets what she wants, she splits away. Naturally, after this break-up, her ex-partner is experiencing strong, painful emotions that she is “feeding” on for a long time. This is like “all-you-can-eat buffet” for her.

Another type of vampirism is a provocative behavior or appearance. One can recognize it when this behavior causes a lot of emotion in others. This kind of vampire is narcissistic and derives his/her energy using appearance and vulgarity. Examples would include, bright clothing, chains, excessive makeup, slang, foul language, loud laughter, look askance or fashionable pretentiousness.

Feeling sorry for yourself and triggering others to feel sorry for you is also a way of feeding on other’s energy. Usually, these people complain about life, dramatize things, and portray their life as full of pain and suffering. Those who fall into their play, start feeling sorry for the “victim”- become “victims” themselves and lose energy. It is not advisable to pity or sympathize anyone. Empathy and compassion are excellent, but pity is feeding weakness instead of strength and doesn’t serve anyone.

Guilt. Well, let’s face it, we are all masters of creating guilt. Making someone feel guilty is like building an energy bridge, through which guilty victim will feed you with their energy.

Rescuer Syndrome. Oddly enough, this is also a way to get energy-nourished, although in a seemingly noble way. Rescuers are always eager to help someone, even though wounds and resentments cover them all over! They love lecturing others in the proper way of living, give out books and a piece of their mind. If one of their victims does decide to change and begins to grow, the rescuer gets part of their realized energy.

Therefore, one can say that a “rescuer” is also an energy “vampire,” since in the process of “rescuing,” he receives massive amounts of energy. As a result many get hooked on this behavior, so much so, that they dedicate their lives to saving others, often inappropriately and unsolicitedly.

“Vampires” are not usually aware of their behavior and many manipulations crank unconsciously. They don’t think, “Now, once Janine starts crying, I’ll feel better!” They think differently: “I must tell Janine the truth about her overweight issue!”.

Why do we become vampires? Why do we suck other’s energy?

Often, we take energy from others, because of massive energetic holes we, ourselves, have through which we lose our vital energy. There are many vortexes (holes, wounds) where our energy disappears. All of these vortexes are destructive. Here are some of the examples:

stressing out about stuff
habitual judging of oneself and others
small talk
living in the past or worrying about future
trying to please others.

All of above consume our focus and energy from living in the present. To feel better, we have a couple of choices: attend seminars and workshops that help us recharge our “batteries” or suck the energy out of others.

How can I know if I, myself, am a vampire?

It’s possible to realize that you are a vampire when you become aware of your emotional dependence on other people or events, or when you start falling apart in the absence of certain emotions in your life.
For example, when you feel the emptiness or loneliness and experience an unstoppable need to call your friend and share with her how badly you are feeling.
Or perhaps, you are feeling a lack of energy, but thinking: “I have not had a relationship in a long time, I need a man.”
Sometimes you feel the lack of vitality, feeling down, and you start provoking a scandal out of nowhere, triggering a strong emotional response in your family members.
Or maybe you are feeling an irresistible urge to tell somebody “the truth.”
When you think it’s necessary and important to discuss someone, judge him and his activities in the negative light.

It’s important to note that after terrible scandals, vampire feels uplifted and energized. Disturbing events do not exhaust a vampire. In fact, on the contrary, he feels empowered and begins helping others.

Tracing your habit of vampirism is easy. In the examples below see if you can relate to any of them:
You are sharing “some essential truth” about someone, and your partner says: “Let’s not talk about it. I think it’s a bad idea!” You are feeling offended, sad and off-balance. Reason: you, as a vampire, were not given an opportunity to fill up with negativity.
When you are telling something cumbersome and soul-wrenching, yet your companion seems disinterested and unemotional, it is clear that your manipulation of his emotions fell through. In this case, the vampire gets furious! Often this irritation comes up unconsciously, and the vampire himself can not understand why he/she is so angry.

Why is it so important to give up a role of a vampire?

The way of the vampire – is a way of co-dependence and disempowerment. It is a way to feeling ever-growing inner emptiness, which needs more victims and scandals. Vampires are prisoners of emotional dependency on others, and they are rarely prosperous and happy. Vampires mostly live in constant fear because of lack of inner resources to create abundance and prosperity.

Choosing the way of a vampire – means giving up on personal growth and development, although, that is the purpose of our existence on this planet.

It is critical becoming aware of your intentions in this lifetime!

Note, that “vampires” always feed their donors, so they love mingling in other people’s business. They like to think, analyze, and discuss the lives of others, pay attention to what’s going on out there. People that are self-sufficient and healthy are focused on themselves and manifestations of their intentions, desires, and purposes. Only a small fraction of their attention goes to building relationships with other people and on something else, other than the realization of their ideas.

If you recognized yourself in any of these examples and had the courage to take responsibility for a destructive behavioral pattern, you just took a significant step towards expanding your awareness. This is necessary to heal yourself of the behavior that is nor longer serving you or the world.

Now, I invite you to take a look at your life and see where do you lose your energy and vitality? Make a conscious decision to abstain from condemnation, judging, gossiping, righteousness, worry, anxiety, and haste.

Forgive your past and let it go. Let go of people that you are allowing to destroy you and your life …

Over time, you will restore your wholeness, and you will no longer be interested in being a vampire, nor will you be a victim of another vampire. You will earn your freedom and fulfillment! Your focus will become confident and abundant.

Once you have attained a sense of inner wholeness in your life, you will experience the manifestation of your desires and the joy of meeting new and kind people.

Do you know what does every Olympic athlete has in common?

COACH. Athletes hire coaches because they want to reach their potential, get results, become the best they can be. They can’t do it alone. They want support, feedback, acknowledgment, accountability, push and a pull. They want a coach who will inspire them, believe in them, and hold the vision for them of what’s possible.

If you are not an athlete you might ask, “Why should I consider hiring a coach? What are the benefits of powerful coaching? How can it serve me?”

I am glad you’ve asked. Perhaps you are already successful in what you are doing but feel stuck at the level you are at.

You know you are way more capable, but can’t seem to break through some habits that are holding you back. You want to create a greater impact in the world as a leader, be more fulfilled, inspired, balanced, have more energy and fun. Maybe you feel your life lost its meaning and you want to find a new purpose, reignite passion. Maybe it’s time to explore what’s possible for you!

Uncover your hidden capacities and blind spots so that you can make more confident choices to achieve the impact you want to have in your life.

Align all of your capacities to the key challenges you face and leading from this integrated perspective.

Create a compelling future state that will powerfully move you or your organization forward.

Integrate new or refined behaviors and identifying high-leverage actions that will elevate your own performance and that of your organization.

Redefine your notion of success as originating from the essence of who you are as a person and how you impact others.

Deepen your understanding of yourself.

A Manchester Consulting Group study of Fortune 100 executives reported that “coaching resulted in a Return On Investment of almost six times the program cost as well as improvements in relationships, teamwork, job satisfaction and quality.” If you are a forward thinking leader and can see that Transformational Coaching will further you, then your next step is simple.

Celebrate with Me on my Mom’s 68th Birthday

Posted by:

Hey Champions,

Today is a really special day for me. Today would have been my Mom’s 68th birthday if she didn’t transition 5 years ago… Yet, I want to celebrate my Mamochka with you, because without her I wouldn’t be who I am today. Truth be told, we didn’t always have a beautiful relationship, there were a lot of difficulties and personality clashes.  I didn’t always appreciate who she was. However, all past hurts aside, Mamochka taught me critical life lessons, such as believing in myself. No, she never told me, ”Faen’ka, believe in yourself…” She taught me by example, by the way she approached life. Unfortunately, I didn’t realize this until a year after she passed, and I was writing my book “Choreography of Awakening”.  As I was working on the chapter about my mom, I suddenly saw her differently! I saw a courageous little woman in her 40’s coming to America without much education, English, or money. How relentlessly she was creating an American Dream for herself and her family; never taking “no” for an answer, always pushing. She helped thousands of new, scared immigrants to start new lives in America. She was not a life coach like I am, she worked as an admissions director at the vocational school in New York City. After her passing, people would call me and share stories of my Mom, and how she changed their lives. I would just sit, listen, and wonder that I am actually living my life in the footsteps of my Mom’s.

So today is Mamochka’s 68th birthday. I wish I could gift her my book, and she could go on and brag about it to her friends…But…she never got to see it… So… instead, I decided to give my book to you, in her honor. See the link below.

Please be sure to read Chapter 8. It is called “I know I can”. It’s about my parents. It’s about beliefs. It’s about perseverance.  Their story is so inspiring! It will inspire you to Make the Impossible Possible! Because “there are no limits in human potential, there are limits in human beliefs!” Use the link below and get my book today for free.

It’s only available through the weekend in honor of my mom’s birthday. Celebrate with me! Share with your mom! Follow your heart and know, that I believe in you!

Find Your OLYMPIC Quest

Posted by:

February 12, 2006. Geneva. My plane landed and I entered the luggage area to pick up my bags. I was in a daze. Was this really happening?!? Only 48 hours ago I was giving my final words of encouragement to my celebrity student— Sasha Cohen, en route to her Olympic battle for the coveted goal— an Olympic Gold Medal. As I gave her my final hug, she looked at me and casually asked, “Could you do me a favor?” “Anything you want, Sasha!” “Can you meet me in Italy tomorrow?” I was startled, confused, surprised at the very least. I wanted to go so badly, but she never asked, not until this last moment, and I already accepted the fact that I wasn’t going with her. But in those few seconds everything changed. I gasped for air, “Yes!”

Now, two days later I was in Geneva, trying to figure out my way to the small Italian village in the heart of the Alps, where I was going to train Sasha for the dream of her life. Somewhere deep inside me I knew that this trip was going to change my life. Yet, I never imagined the magnitude of what was actually happening. I thought my stellar career in coaching skating is finally going to be what I have always dreamt about…

But Sasha made a small split second mistake in her performance and the Olympic Gold Medal, the dream of a life was lost. It was that quick! In a split second, lives were changed, and they went on the soul-searching journeys for an answer.

Perhaps, it’s not a surprise that the Olympics became a point of transformation for all of us, for myself. Weaknesses are revealed under pressure, and here I realized that to succeed at a higher level I needed something more than just skills, I needed a mindset, a purpose, a vision. Heart. I didn’t know that to acquire these “skills” I will start my life over, earn new degrees, write a book, learn  public speaking, speak at conferences, radio shows and TV, change careers, get divorced… I didn’t know that an innocent  sentence “Could you meet me in Italy tomorrow?” could transform one’s life and shift the direction of a lifetime. It’s impossible to convey the lessons learned on this quest in a few sentences.

But this week I am celebrating 10 years of my rebirth. 10 years of search, struggles and wins in every imaginable way: mentally, physically, emotionally, financially, but most importantly: spiritually! The journey led me to discovering my answers to forever questions humans asked throughout the millennia: Who am I? Why am I here? What is my contribution into the world? My discoveries can be read in my book: Choreography of Awakening.

It begins with my journey to the 2006 Winter Olympics in Torino, and shares with you the lessons learned on the path. Set and accomplish your #1 goal in 100 days

Can you believe the new year is here already?

Time flies when you’re having fun!

One of my favorite things to do in January is take inventory of where I’m at in my life, both professionally and personally (family, health, etc.), and reflection is a great way to get started with this.

First, I take a look back at what I’ve done over the past year that DID work, and then I also recognize those things that DIDN’T work.

Next, I turn to goal-setting to get pumped up (and prepped) for what I want to accomplish in the new year based on what I’ve learned through my reflection time.

But you know just as well as I do that sometimes we set goals but then fail to actually accomplish those goals.

We get busy, we end up frustrated by a lack of progress, or perhaps, we simply don’t have any accountability in place to make sure we’re actually doing the things that will help us get one step closer to accomplishing our goals.

There must be a better way…

Luckily, there is.

It’s calledThe Freedom Journal” and it’s a premium, faux leather-bound journal that will help you set and accomplish YOUR #1 goal in 100 days.

Check out The Freedom Journal here.

The creator of The Freedom Journal is none other than John Lee Dumas, whose business went from $0 to $3.5 million / year in under two years.

He admits his wild growth is the direct result of careful goal setting… and diligent adherence to moving one step closer to the goals he sets each and every day.

  1. By creating goals the RIGHT way (using the S.M.A.R.T. Goals system);
  2. By being held accountable DAILY through affirmations, quotes, resources, documenting progress, and more;
  3. By breaking BIG goals up into smaller, bite-sized chunks (sprints);
  4. By conducting quarterly reviews (every 25 days – take a look-back and reflect); and
  5. By maintaining a GOAL-oriented mindset.

And now, John has finally packaged his system into a premium, faux leather-bound journal you can carry with you wherever you go.

And yes, this thing is beautiful:

“If you asked me for my New Year Resolution, it would be to find out who I am” ~ Cyril Cusack

I love starting emails, blogs, chapters with a quote. If you are like me, you tried to Google quotes for the New Year, and you found that most of them talk about one thing—goals. It may be expressed as “dreams”, “vision”, “resolution” but all in all it’s about goals. I admit that I frequently fell into the category of people who are excited and optimistic to start a “new” life in the next year, then fall off the wagon, then patiently wait for the next year to start over!…. Unless….

Here is what I have discovered that helps you set those goals and complete them!

1.    It’s not about completion of a goal. It’s about BECOMING A PERSON WHO SEES HIS GOALS THROUGH TO THE END!

2. It’s about being INSPIRED!

3. It’s about WHY that will benefit the greater good! You must keep reminding yourself of WHY you decided to pursue this project in the first place!

4. It’s about stretching, growing and learning!

5. It’s about discovering Who I can be, What am I capable of!

Here are simple, fun rituals I do every year on the New Years Eve:

1.    Take a few minutes to write out a gratitude for the amazing things that took place last year, and for the lessons learned.

2.    On another piece of paper, write out the intentions for the next year. At the top of the sheet write the following: “This or something better for the highest good of all concerned.

Then proceed with:

3.    “If I had the most amazing year what would it look like? I intend…”

4.    Read what you wrote. Allow your subconscious mind absorb it. Burn both papers at midnight and let the Universe receive your gratitude and wishes.

5.    Introduce your family and friends to this ritual and do it all together for a fun and meaningful way to celebrate.

If you have your own ritual you are following, I’d love to hear it!

For a more in-depth work, download the chapter of my book here, and use it as a template to write a vision for a year ahead. Also, I’ve planned some awesome events coming up, both locally and online to work on Clarity for the year ahead. Stay tuned for the information on it.

I am wishing you the most amazing, successful, prosperous year yet!
